Can you believe how much the marching bands have changed now?
Do now have a child in a marching band?
What do you remember the most, miss the most, not miss at all - about high school marching band?
Can you believe how much the marching bands have changed now?
- Drill teams are gone.
- Uniforms, at least in Columbus, at back to being more formal.
- The music in Columbus seems to be more formal, too.
- Where's the fun?!?!
Do now have a child in a marching band?
- I'm the proud mother of the only male flute player in the Hilliard Darby Marching Band!
- The other 36 female flute players gave him a special award at Band Camp - "Pimp Master of the Flute Section".
- He's actually playing my flute from 30 years ago now! Less than $30 to tune it up! And they don't make them like they used to.
- He's in a big band like Beavercreek - 201 this year.
What do you remember the most, miss the most, not miss at all - about high school marching band?
- Being hazed the first year - marched around the field at band camp at night.
- Waiting on the upperclassman hand and foot.
- Camping at Clarksville in hot, canvas tents - YUCK!
- Senior year camp at Wittenburg - oh, the trouble a lot of us got in, or almost got in at the frat houses, and the stories I could tell!!
Anyone else have thoughts on any of this? Come on, let's use this site! There are plenty of people signed up - we need to start filling out some of the OLDER history of the band while we can still remember. hehe
